Mike Martelli, P. Eng.

President

Named President of Powerline Plus in 2023, Mike has a proven track record of success leading large power plant operations and complex infrastructure projects. His knowledge spans the energy sector, corporate risk and governance, asset management, Indigenous relations, business transformation and change, and more. Over his career, Mike has actively sat on 11 boards, including power plant joint ventures, Indigenous business partnerships, and Waterpower Canada.

Awarded the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Gold Certification by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, Mike is well-versed in Indigenous people’s relations and prioritizes local employment, skills development, and long-term revenue streams that continue to serve the local community. Mike graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science in mechanical engineering. He’s also a professional engineer and graduate of the Rotman School of Management, Directors Education Program ICD.D.

Kirk Razmjou

Chief Operating Officer

Kirk’s career with Powerline Plus spans from facility maintenance attendant in 2009 to his current role as chief operating officer, which he has held since 2021. Kirk’s comprehensive experience includes operational efficiency and a thorough understanding of construction processes, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. 

Through his 15 years with the company, he has filled a myriad of roles, including labourer, civil construction supervisor, and civil construction manager. Kirk’s responsibilities have ranged from drilling and blasting rock at construction sites to developing civil and technical work policies to overseeing business function operations and client relations.

Giselle Matin

Chief Legal Officer

Giselle, Powerline Plus’ chief legal officer, holds B.A., M.A., and Juris Doctor degrees and has been a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2011. In her role, Giselle oversees Human Resources, Health and Safety, and Public Relations in addition to Powerline Plus’ legal work. 

Giselle has worked at Powerline Plus since it was founded by her father, Ben Matin, in 1990, answering the phone when she was as young as six years old and continuing her involvement throughout her undergraduate, masters, and law school education until joining the company full time in August of 2011.

Mo Farivar

Vice President, Finance

As vice president of finance, Mo is responsible for fiscal functions including company financial reporting. In his role, he serves as a key executive leadership team member by providing strategic financial planning and analysis to aid the operations team in short- and long-term decision-making. Mo’s career with Powerline Plus began in 2018 as a program manager before becoming manager of the program management office and IT in 2023. 

Upon graduating from York University’s Bachelor of Commerce program with an honours in accounting specialization, Mo worked for a large public accounting firm and later was co-founder and director of operations of a small tax practice prior to joining Powerline Plus.

Drew Bridekirk

Electrical Operational Manager

Bringing more than four decades of industry experience, Drew serves as electrical operational manager where he organizes, plans, directs, controls, and evaluates the daily activities and operations of the electrical department. Drew’s responsibilities also span safety assurance and process management to client and construction staff relations. 

Drew began his career with Powerline Plus in 2017 as electrical manager, overseeing all activities and functions of underground and overhead distribution project planning and coordination. Before joining the company, Drew worked for Toronto Hydro over a nearly 30-year stretch as a construction and maintenance supervisor, trades training instructor, and CPCP journeyperson.

Hassan El Badaoui, P. Eng.

Construction Manager

As construction manager, Hassan oversees the construction, scheduling, and budgeting of hydro utility infrastructure, leading teams of engineers, technicians, and contractors to execute project objectives and meet client requirements. Hassan has years of experience overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of major capital hydro utility projects. He has a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budgets while maintaining strict safety and quality standards, with expertise spanning project management, team leadership, and technical acumen.

Before his current role, Hassan was a project manager, developing project plans, preparing and maintaining project documentation, and managing construction projects from initiation to completion. He also has experience in earth moving and train track construction, and maintenance coordination. Hassan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Manitoba and holds a professional engineer designation.

Girish Gowda

Electrical Field Manager

Girish is the electrical field manager, responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintaining project timelines, and collaborating closely with electrical field crews and supervisors to ensure projects are executed according to design and client standards. With seven years of construction leadership experience, Girish has held various key positions with the company, including project manager.

Before joining Powerline Plus, Girish spent four years as a construction coordinator across various firms, assisting in developing work scopes, providing project control support to managerial staff, and working in the field to monitor construction progress and resolve issues. Girish graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University and obtained postgraduate degrees in construction project management and operations management from Fanshawe College.

Kushan Vakil

Construction Manager

Kushan has been a part of the Powerline Plus team since 2019, serving as construction manager where he’s responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and financial aspects of the company’s construction initiatives. Kushan began his Powerline Plus career as a project coordinator in the billing department before advancing to project manager. 

Before joining Powerline Plus, Kushan worked as a civil engineering technologist at Ferrovial Agroman Canada Inc. and specialized in electrical systems and technical submission documents for various bid submissions. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering degree from Gujarat Technological University. Kushan furthered his education with an Ontario College Certificate in Construction Project Management from Lambton College and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.

Sinjo Varghese

Design Manager

Sinjo has worked as Powerline Plus’ design manager since 2023, where his responsibilities include setting and rolling out design standard procedures and overseeing a team of designers to ensure final products meet clients’ construction standards, municipal requirements, and safety regulations. He’s been a part of the Powerline Plus team since 2019, including time as a design coordinator, construction project coordinator, and project manager. 

He holds a Bachelor of Technology in civil engineering, and a Master of Technology in construction management and structural engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University. He also obtained a postgraduate diploma in construction project management at Lambton College.

Nader Yaghmour

Senior Procurement Manager

Nader serves as senior procurement manager, overseeing the establishment and optimization of inventory management, ensuring effective control of inventory levels. His responsibilities include monitoring the timely and stable supply of materials as well as managing sourcing activities. His role is important in maintaining competitive costing while achieving a balanced ratio of quality, cost, stability, and safety. Nader has demonstrated exceptional skills in purchasing, warehousing, project management, costing, and feasibility studies within both industrial and commercial settings. He joined Powerline plus in 2021 as a procurement specialist before becoming procurement and logistics manager prior to his current role.

Nader graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in economic and commerce – business administration. With more than 25 years of hands-on experience in supply chain management, Nader built a distinguished career with vast knowledge in international trade and procurement. Before joining Powerline Plus, he served as director of global supply chain management and business development director.

Kal Waldman

Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Kal has been with Powerline Plus for more than a decade and has served as environmental health and safety (EHS) manager since 2017. His responsibilities include managing the company’s corporate EHS management systems, leading internal audits for EHS standard compliance, conducting regular site safety inspections, maintaining our health and safety program, and overseeing all employee training programs.

Before his current management position, Kal held several positions at Powerline Plus from field safety and civil project supervisor to field safety inspector. He has an extensive list of certifications including NCSO -National Construction Safety Officer, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, and WSIB Claims Management.

Sasha Sood

Human Resources Manager

Sasha serves as human resources manager, overseeing and implementing human resource policies in accordance with all regulations. Sasha’s responsibilities include maintaining employee relations, overseeing employee recruitment and orientation, along with liaising with local unions and representatives regarding labour needs. 

She has been a member of the company’s human resources team since 2020, beginning as a human resources supervisor. Before coming to Powerline, Sasha worked at Global Human Resource Centre Inc. as a branch manager. Sasha has degrees from Lester B Pearson Collegiate Institute and Seneca College.

Ean Smith

Redimix Manager

Ean has served as manager of PLP Redimix Ltd (PLP Redimix). – the on-site ready-mix concrete plant division of Powerline Plus – for more than a decade. He oversees 20-plus concrete and dump truck drivers and ensures their compliance with all company policies and procedures in addition to all Ministry of Transportation regulations. Ean’s responsibilities include scheduling deliveries and managing the fleet, coordinating daily jobs with other company departments, and acting as a liaison with suppliers.

He also helped design and plan the PLP Redimix plant and the silo purchase and installation. Ean is Concrete Technician, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and MOL Construction Regulations certified.

Tommy Ratatsidis

Mechanic Shop Manager

Tommy serves as mechanic shop manager for Powerline Plus, a position he’s held since 2019. His responsibilities include planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising programs for the acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles. Tommy oversees and manages all aspects of repair, servicing, and cleaning of the fleet as well as all machinery and equipment while complying with all MTO, Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks mandatory rules and guidelines. He also ensures all employees are properly trained and are qualified in safety procedures under current legislated regulatory requirements.

Tommy began his career with Powerline Plus as a tire technician and mechanic apprentice in 2012 before leaving in 2016 to serve as heavy equipment mechanic and shop technician at Strongco/Case. He returned to the company in 2018 as a licensed mechanic and equipment operator before moving into his current role. Tommy completed his apprenticeship and acquired a Mechanic Certificate from Centennial College. He holds a Commercial Wheel Service Certification from the Ministry of Transportation as well as several other equipment certifications.

Wendy Davidson

Vice President, Business Development

Wendy joined MYR Group as vice president of business development in 2020 where she drives strategic growth by supporting all the MYR Group subsidiaries in the markets they serve. Wendy leads a dynamic team that develops new opportunities, fosters client relationships, and implements effective business strategies that respond to changing market demands to further establish MYR Group’s position as an innovative partner in the clean energy transformation.

Throughout her 30-plus-year career, Wendy has held advisory and leadership roles in the energy and industrial construction markets. Before joining MYR Group, she led business development for Mortenson’s Wind Energy Group by building on her diverse experience gained in previous roles at Koch Industries and GE Capital, and founding her own consulting practice. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University.
