Trenchless Excavation Through Jack & Bore Tunneling
Jack and bore tunneling is an auger boring method for trenchless excavation under various crossings such as railways and highway corridors where there is a strict requirement to not interrupt the flow of traffic. This method uses Fiberglass Reinforced Pipes (FRE) pipes for housing cables, which are installed inside a one-metre diameter steel casing and then encased by injecting grout to fill the casing and thus stabilize the ground. Depending on soil conditions, this jack and bore tunnel can reach a distance of 150 metres.
We utilize a modified auger bore to excavate the tunnel, which uses various cutting heads capable of breaking hard shale. Dewatering of the launching and the receiving shaft is done in-house using a network of pumps and hoses connected to tanks. A slide rail shoring system is used for the shafts and provides safe conditions for crews working inside the shaft. The modified auger bore provides stability in poor soil conditions such as sandy and silty soil with high water content, minimizing ground loss. Steel casings are welded together through our in-house welding crew.
Non-Interruptive Road Crossing Installations & Expert Dewatering
We bring deep expertise in the construction of non-interruptive road crossing installations for locations busy with traffic flow using an innovative technique called cap and lag tunneling. Cap and lag tunneling minimizes the impact on the flow of traffic by going below grade, leveraging manual hand excavation of soil within a 1.2 x 1.2-meter engineered timber structure supporting the excavation.
We also have vast experience and capacity for dewatering groundwater using conventional and non-conventional methods such as isolated pump, pump system with hoses connected to sedimentation tanks, and hydro vacuum removal of water and disposal to the receiving facility.
